Dear All, By now many of you are aware of the fact that yesterday (1st June 2011), Delaire Graff Estate was awarded a Trophy at the awards ceremony of the Old Mutual Trophy Wine show for winning the sauvignon blanc category. The winning wine being the Delaire Coastal Cuvee Sauvignon Blanc 2010. In addition to this honour the wine has also been selected to represent South Africa at the Five Nations Wine Challenge to be held in Sydney, in August. (Wines from Chile, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa will compete for top honours ) The Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show is the most prestigious wine competition held annually in South Africa. It draws only the top wines as entries and the judging panel is comprised of wine experts drawn from countries around the globe. The prestige of winning a Trophy is therefore huge and widely acknowledged throughout the industry and retail sectors. Delaire has now gained the unique distinction of achieving top awards for two successive sauvignon blanc vintages with two varying styles of sauvignon blanc. It is also noteworthy that the Delaire Chenin Blanc 2010 and the Botmaskop 2008 top scored in their categories and were awarded Silver medals. Our congratulations go to Morne and his team for their uncompromising pursuit of excellence This is truly an outstanding achievement and one, that in addition to making us proud, sets a new benchmark at Delaire. Our congratulations go also to Kevin Watt our Viticultural Consultant and Kallie and his team. Behind the wine production team sits Saskia who remains steadfastly committed to the marketing and sales function and Jacolien and her team who ensure that from a finance and admin perspective things run smoothly. They too, in my opinion, deserve to be acknowledged in this award. Keep up the good work. Johann |
