In our part of the Cape Winelands we have noticed the arrival of winter is slightly later than usual, with its typically low, low temperatures. We are still waiting for more “cold units” to kick our vineyards into their well-earned winter rest. This time of year is characterised by an array of colour changes in the leaves, with the eventual falling of leaves from the vines and the emergence of lush green cover crops between the vine rows.
