Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel Brut

Simonsig founder, Frans Malan, was the first producer of bottle fermented sparkling wine in the traditional Methode Champenoise. Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel was the very first Cap Classique released in 1971 and remains a benchmark made from classic Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier varieties.

On a study tour during 1990, Johan Malan travelled to Champagne and returned with the dream of making a Simonsig prestige Cuvée from the finest, most delicate Chardonnay cuvées, capable of long evolution to achieve the pinnacle of Cap Classique quality.

Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel Demi Sec

The demi sec has an attractive, bright colour and lively mousse in the glass.Lively spring blossoms and ripe summer fruit with hints of caramelised baked apple on the nose, which follows through to a rich, sweetness on the palate. The balance is beautifully maintained by the soft, natural acidity.

In 2004 Simonsig winemaker, Johan Malan, created an innovative taste sensation by blending three Pinot varieties to launch the Kaapse Vonkel Brut Rosé.

Simonsig Chenin Avec Chêne Chenin Blanc

Highly regarded by critics and consumers alike, this wooded Chenin Blanc dances in the glass with a bright golden hue. Inviting citrus blossoms, tasty oak and honey aromas on the nose is complimented by an array of caramelised baked apple, ripe pear and a zesty acidity on the palate.

Simonsig Garland Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep black cherry colour with healthy and youthful rim. The nose exhibits a pot pourri of flavours ranging from Santa Rosa plum, violets, a touch of truffle and forest floor. The tell-tale black currant bud and lead pencil herbaceousness adds to the unmistakable Cabernet Sauvignon personality coming from a cooler vintage in the Cape. Delicious sweet, well rounded flavours on the palate are perfectly framed by the seamless fine grained tannins which have softened sufficiently to allow the ripe berry fruitiness to shine through. Spicy clove and vanilla oak notes add to the complexity and lingering aftertaste.

Simonsig Merindol Syrah

This terroir-driven Syrah has a rich, velvet red colour boasting a masculine perfume with a white pepper and cinnamon twist. On the palate it exudes decadent layers of black forest chocolate cake, while tailored tannins capture the aroma of black fruit with hints of liquorice.

Simonsig Redhill Pinotage

Today, the Redhill Pinotage is made from a vineyard grown on the famous Redhills of Simonsig Estate. The red soils originate from decomposed, weathered shale.

Simonsig Tiara

Simonsig Chenin Blanc

Simonsig Chenin Blanc was the first wine released by founder Frans Malan in 1968. This versatile variety appeals with a bright straw colour and a distinctive presence of passion fruit, watermelon and guava. With a lively acidity it pronounces the fruit and coats the palate with an abundance of kiwi fruit and tropical nuances.

Simonsig Gewürztraminer

Simonsig Estate was the first cellar to release a Gewürztraminer in South Africa. Its name is derived from Gewürz meaning spice in German and Tramin, a town located in the Trentino Alto Adige region of Northern Italy.

Simonsig Vin de Liza Noble Late Harvest

A gorgeous Noble Late Harvest wine made from Sauvignon blanc and Semillon following the style of the great botrytis wines of the Sauternes region of France. The first dessert wine was made by Frans Malan in 1979 for his beloved wife, Liza. Continuing this tradition, this tremendously attractive wine captures varietal concentration and sweetness with a vibrant natural acidity for a perfect balance on a long intricate finish.
