Anthonij Rupert Merlot 2006
An elegant mouthful of rich cocoa and ripe plum with hints of beetroot and earthiness. Structured and full yet with restraint obvious too. Fruit and oak are well meshed providing a long, sumptuous aftertaste.

"Gorgeous aromas of warm chocolate ganache and fig bread are followed by a rich, dense palate of currant, graphite, plum sauce and mocha notes. Almost chewy on the finish, but the ample tannins are rounded enough to pull it all together, leaving a plush impression. In modern style. Drink now through 2013." Wine Spectator Insider March 5, 2008 - 91 points This wine shows layers of integrated fruit with a velvety mouthfeel and rich depth of flavour and character. Layers of integrated fruit aromas with a velvety mouth-feel full of richness and depth. Ripe red plums and dark berries on the palate enhance the delicate perfume of this wine. 2006 harmonious marriage of classic Bdx sundried tomato, forest floor, iodine nuances; silky texture; tannins for cellaring 4+ yrs. But un-classic 15% alc. (Platter 2011)
