Protea Shiraz 2009
Smoky plum, blueberry, black olive and herbal whiffs on the nose. Ripe and soft-textured, the wine immediately impresses with its fruit quality – all black cherry and berries, juicy and succulent. There's spicy smoke and clove nuances that add interest. Chocolate too. Rich and velvety with good acidity and restrained use of oak. Delicious with good length of flavour.

Smoky dark fruit, classy rather than voluptuous, smooth and appealing with spice infused flavours. It's like a warm sea breeze on naked skin on an inky blue, moonless night.... Lightly oaked 2008, red berry & floral appeal, tarry centre, feisty tail. Now & for next yr/2. (Platter 2011)
