Ernie Els Wines
The concept of the Ernie Els Wines was born out of a friendship between Ernie Els and Jean Engelbrecht back in 1999. The pair, driven by a mutual passion for South African red wine, and have combined Jean's knowledge of the world wine markets with Ernie's impeccable worldwide acclaim and reputation.
Ernie Els Big Easy White 2011This 100% Chenin Blanc offers an amazing array of tropical fruits, showing the complexity the Cape has to offer. A delicate, perfumed nose balances the crystalline structure and moderately full-bodied palate, completely unhindered by any oak. A hint of almond flakes and sprinkle of spice adds texture and depth. A lively, spritely and juicy wine that builds and builds to finishes in a creamy pina-colada cocktail-swirl. |

Ernie Els Big Easy Red 2010Very balanced and has beautiful tannin integration with great depth. Obvious dark berry flavours are infused with a chocolate cake feel and a hint of mocha from the oak. The finish is long and fruity. (2009 AVAILABLE in 1.5ltr) |

Ernie Els Sauvignon Blanc 2011- A fantastic expression of this noble grape variety, revealing flavours from the cooler fruit spectrum rather than grassy, herbal characters. Classic nuances of gun flint add to the gooseberry and the melon profile, all wrapped around a limey, mineral core. The linear entry and crisp acidity widens to a textured, tropical and long finish. Lipsmackingly delicious now, with the structure to develop further for a few years. |

Considered as a niche wine within the portfolio, only a very limited volume is produced each year. Blended with 5% Viognier for an extra flavour dimension, the wine exhibits true Stellenbosch Syrah characteristics. |

Ernie Els SA Rugby Sauvignon Blanc 2011This delightful Sauvignon Blanc reveals flavours typical of grapes harvested from the cooler climates of the Cape. The crisp acidity refreshes the palate and the tropical fruit spectrum is abundant, with a more secondary role played by the grassy, herbal characters common with this grape variety. The wine is a marvellous accompaniment to salads, fresh sushi and seafood dishes and selected white meats. |

Ernie Els SA Rugby Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2010This delicious, full bodied red blend provides a barrage of fruit flavours on the palate. The strong Shiraz component adds spiciness and the lesser Cabernet Sauvignon component provides the richness. Expect a vivid display of complexity with layered cinnamon, fynbos, liquorice and sappy red berry fruit. There is excellent balance between the crystalline acidity and the creamy textured finish. Exotic and energetic now, this wine will improve in the cellar. |
