La Motte Millennium 2010
A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Equal amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc dominate, to create the Bordeaux profile for which this wine is known. For the first time, though, Shiraz was added for more complexity and it s probably responsible for the hint of aniseed. The wine is intense on the nose, with cherry and mulberry fruit together with cinnamon spice. Wood maturation has enhanced a toffee and caramel presence. Very smooth and juicy on the palate.

A dusty, earthy nose with raspberry and mulberry fruit, cinnamon spice and a hint of mint, promising a complex wine. The first touch on the palate is velvety and juicy. The mid-palate is firm, but medium-bodied and the finish mineral-dry and lingering. A very elegant wine, with finesse, that will develop depth and complexity with age. A trusted Bordeaux-style blend made from all 5 varietals, predominately cabernet sauvignon and merlot. The wine has a mineral presence, while lively tannins lend a pleasant, lingering aftertaste. Incredible value for money. Pleasant cherry, roasted nut and dark chocolate. Cooked beetroot with clove and cinnamon spices in the background mixed with pomegranate flavours.
