Meerlust Pinot Noir 2010
Intense, translucent, youthful, purple-ruby appearance. Very forthcoming perfume on the nose with musk, wild strawberry, cranberry and hints of savoury richness, spice and a pronounced mineralogy. The palate is medium bodied with pure Pinot Noir fruit flavours of plum and red cherry supported by an ultra-fine, densely textured tannin structure which adds to the volume and vivacity of the wine.

Typically light ruby, onion skin in appearance. The nose has lifted red fruit, cranberry and wild strawberry with hints of wild mushrooms and a distinct perfumed muskiness. The palate is medium bodied offering perfectly ripe Pinot fruit flavours of red fruit, baking spice and a hint of savoury earthiness. The velvety tannins are well structured giving balance and length to the palate. A stunning showcase for the variety's signature silky tannins; brooding aromas of subtle red fruit prelude to harmonious black cherry, tobacco notes on intense, sweet, yet restrained palate; persistent smoky spice fans out on finish. 11 months 70% new oak. Gorgeous, & emphatic. (Platter 2009) The bouquet is very concentrated with a typical wild strawberry & mushroom aroma. There is an underlying spiciness, which will develop into the typical organic mushroom character of pinot noir. The velvety tannins are well structured giving balance and length to the palate.
