Meinert Devon Crest 2006

Luscious 05 Bordeaux blend (63% cab + merlot) has ripe cassis aromas mingling with scorched earth, vanilla. 25% new oak obvious in youth on well-structured, expansive palate; 14.5% alc adds a lot of weight, but in balance. Follows particularly fine 04 (****1/2 stars). (Platter 2009)

Vibrant deep red colour. Classically elegant yet complex, with ripe berry and red cherry flavours mingled with spicy mint and leathery tones. Smooth and velvety already in youth, set to grow even more mellow.
