Mulderbosch Faithful Hound 2009
Deep, black cherry colour penetrating from hue to rim. A surfeit of blackcurrant/cassis, blueberry jam and plum fruit alongside souboise, graphite, vanilla pod, tobacco and cedar wood typical of a classical styled Cabernet-based blend. Full body showing a grainy texture with mid palate richness, fresh fruits as nose amalgamated with boysenberry, damson, fruitcake, coffee bean and dried herbs (clove, anise) that finish with a powdery tannin that will need a few more years to resolve and long length making one esurient for another glass. Drink 2012-2018. (2007 AVAILABLE IN 1.5ltr)

Blackcurrant, coffee, nutmeg, all spice, forest floor and mulberry aromas follow through on the palate together with ripe plum, intense blackberry and voluptuous vanillins giving the wine great structure and complexity. A mixed bag of concentrated blackcurrant, coffee, forest-floor fruit and nutmeg aromas. Voluptuous flavours of ripe plum and intense blackberry combine with subtle wood vanillas to give the wine its lovely complexity. Will gain with bottle maturation for 4-8 years. Bdx blend a bastion of honest earthiness, but 05 edges closer to new-wave idiom in nutty caramel notes to soft black fruits, gentle tannins. Full bdx quintet, cab & merlot in lead (43/32), 42% new wood. (Platter 2009) A beautifully crafted, balanced, honest, satisfying Bordeaux styled blend.
