Mulderbosch Sauvignon Blanc 2011
A bright lemon-green colour with a pronounced nose of crushed stinging nettles, lemon zest, green fig and black current leaves all held together by an intriguing floral note. A vivid palate with an engaging concentration of clementine peel, granadilla pulp, Cape gooseberry and Charentais melon; a rich texture that caresses the palate, offset by a perky acidity. Complex with a refreshing finish.

A tropical nose packed with guava, ripe and green fig, granadilla, litchi, gooseberry and a hint of green pepper. Mouth-filling ripe fruit is supported by crisp acid. Packed with flinty gooseberry and a touch of citrus – yet maintaining its complex character of grassiness and nettle. This powerful and concentrated wine has become a trademark of Mulderbosch. The wine should be enjoyed young but may be kept for three to five years. Just-dry 07 (****stars) less compelling than pvs; full of steely promise when tasted last ed but showing some middle-aged spread. Yard off minerally 06. 08 unready. (Platter 2009) One of the Cape’s most consistent and sought after sauvignon blancs. Ripe tropical fruit with resounding mineral crescendo.
