Simonsig Merindol Syrah 2008
Black mulberry fruit with white pepper and dried fynbos aromas against an exotic spicy, vanilla oak backdrop. Unashamedly full bodied with luxurious oak providing layers of richness and texture.

Deep inky black centered colour. Concentrated Syrah aromas of crushed peppercorns, dried proteas and fynbos combine with perfumed black berries on the nose. The layers of flavour are supported by an exotic vanilla oak spiciness. Full bodied with rich, ripe tannin structure provides good grip and a food friendly dry finish. A powerful wine from an outstanding vintage which will reward your patience if it is cellared until 2007 to 2009. 17 months. Impressive sngl-vyd shiraz from poor sandy-loam soil. 05 last ed had firm tannin, solid fruit core & fresh acid checking hefty 15.5% alc & 19 mths new Fr oak. Shd keep well. (Platter 2009) |
