Well-known for producing excellent 'food wines', Steenberg has long been recognised as one of the top White Wine Cellars in South Africa. It has scored no less than eight 5-star Platter accolades since 2002, mostly for its Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc Reserve, and blends thereof (2003; 2005; 2007 and 2009). Steenberg's guiding principle is that wines are grown in the vineyard and nurtured in the cellar. Much care goes into ensuring that their vines produce to their finest potential. Steenberg Brut 1682 Chardonnay NVThe Brut 1682 yields a consistent flavour of fresh granny smith apples with overtones of freshly baked biscuits rounded by a creamy yet fresh mouthfeel. |

Steenberg Sauvignon Blanc 2011The wine is dominated by lovely tropical notes of litchi and guava on the nose, fading into green pepper and asparagus as it opens up. A crisp line of acidity carries the wine beautifully, with a firm and lingering aftertaste. Great for those long summer days! |

Steenberg Merlot 2009This deep purple Merlot has great fruit concentration, with hints of spice, aniseed and licorice. It is multi-faceted, with blueberry and dark chocolate aromas on the nose; and black and red berry intensity on the palate. Rich but subtle oak flavours provide this wine with a long, full savory finish. Best enjoyed with lamb roasts and good conversation. (2006 AVAILABLE IN 1.5ltr) |
