The dark earthy tones of Cabernet Sauvignon, the fresh minty character of Merlot and the spicy dark fruit of Shiraz. These cultivars create a wonderfully complex aroma with elegance and structure on the palate.

This full bodied, deep garnet wine is a unique Steenberg blend made in honour of Catharina Ras, our founder. It has a complex nose of lavender, spice and cedar wood with hints of cassis and firm ripe tannins on the palate. This wine will benefit with careful cellaring. Understated red blnd cabs s/f, merlot, shiraz, named for founder Catharina Ras; sometimes with dash nebbiolo, as 04 & now 06 (****1/2 stars). V ripe but composed, fairly restrained (13.8% alc) with lovely dry savoury tannin cosseted by new oak. Will reward keepi (Platter 2009) Our flagship wine made in honour of Catharina Ras, founder of Steenberg. A full bodied wine with complex lavender & spice on the nose. The firm, ripe tannins will benefit benefit from decanting.
