Steenberg Semillon 2010
Light gold with green hue. Very elegant flavours of apricots and lemon peel, reflective of the cool vintage, fade into a creamy textured palette with great elegance. Subtle oaky notes give the wine dimension and depth. Will reward cellaring exponentially. Best enjoyed with good food and good company.

Made from very ripe fruit, this complex Semillon shows intense dried apricot aromas with a citrus (tangerine) zestiness that flows onto the palate. It has a pleasing smokiness and delicate lemongrass & lime aroma. Well-integrated oak flavours create a creaminess, which leads to a long, silky mouth feel. Classy brl-ferm version (& 5 mths ageing, new oak) crafted to reward keeping 3+ yrs. Toasty oak unfolds to reveal typical lemon blossom & tangerine top notes, waxy bass line. Admirable persistence, composure. 07 unusually rich with bright lemon freshness. (Platter 2009) Riveting !! Won Ruth Penfold the Diners Club Young Winemaker of the year award November 2007. Semillon is very well suited to the cold climate conditions of Constantia which is renowned for producing fruit of exceptional quality. Maximum fruit expression and freshness is achieved in this perfectly balanced wine. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!! This standout, new-wave example is a prominent factor in semillon’s resurgence in the Cape. it is powerful, vibrant, sophisticated, rich, elegantly barrel fermented and an ideal food wine. Thoroughly enjoyable with seafood, full flavoured pasta dishes and vegetarian food.
