Tokara Shiraz 2009
Dark red fruits, cassis and cherries with an underlying hint of Karoo bush and earthy notes carrying through to intense berry flavours coupled with hints of sage and a black pepper spice finish.
|
Complex sun-dried tomato/lily & black pepper aromas/flavours pad out its stern oak tannins, add to ready-to-drink appeal. 14.5% alc barely noticeable; dash mourvedre also cleverly tucked away. 18 mths oak, 20% new, gives coconut accent. (Platter 2009) The wine has stunning depth and intensity of colour. The nose shows full ripe fresh prunes, mulberries and cassis followed by layers of fruit and spice on the palate.
