Elegantly styled 05 (***1/2 stars) with dashes mourv & viog, 14 mths 20% new Fr oak. Redcurrant & white pepper aromas with sinewy savouriness. Less concentration than 04 though balanced & integrated. (Platter 2009) 2006 - A warm vibrant wine bursting with white pepper and a sweet spicy floral tones of Jasmine and Violets. Loads of black currant flavours on the palate. A soft tannin structure emphasises the velvety texture of this concentrated wine. This is the first vintage of Zevenwacht Syrah that includes a modest yet significant blending partner – Mourverdré 2.2%. The Viognier (3.3%) accentuates the spicy fruit and floral tones and adds enormous weight on the mid-palate. 2007 - A warm vibrant wine bursting with white pepper and sweet spicy floral tones of Jasmine and Violets.
