In 1694, a French Huguenot, Jean Roi, of Lourmarins arrived in what is known today as the Franschhoek Valley. He was the first owner of L’Ormarins presently the home of Anthonij Rupert Wyne. This pioneer of note planted 4000 vines in the fertile valley. The Anthonij Rupert flagship range is made from premium grapes grown on the most ideal sites in the Western Cape. These sites are suited to the specific varieties earmarked for greatness. Vinification practices match the quality of the raw materials hence gravity processing, hand-selection and barrel fermentation. This gives nature time to work its indefinable magic.
