This wine shows complex red fruit aroma profile, with raspberry, ripe plum and hints of cherry, lead pencil and cedar. The ripe fruit and slightly more subtle black currant and apricot flavours are well supported by an integrated tannin structure. This wine has a juicy, well rounded and a full mouth-feel with a long, balanced finish.
Clean expressive red fruit aromas are prevalent on the nose. There are lovely undertones of fresh strawberries and subtle mocha coffee notes.The fresh, lingering, red fruit characteristics are well supported with soft vanilla flavours. The wine is well integrated with gentle tannins, and a soft, elegant finish.
Superb red fruit aromas of raspberry and plum are supported with hints of black cherry and cedar. The ripe red fruit from the nose comes to the fore on the palate. There is a subtle fynbos undertone that backs up the medium to full mouthfeel. This wine has a nice firm structure, with a lengthy red fruit finish.
I have a great respect for Napa Cabernet Sauvignon as I appreciate the art of their balance in such powerful wine. This wine was made to see how close we can come to a Napa style Cabernet Sauvignon in Stellenbosch.
Guardian Peak has been blending Shiraz, Mourvedre and Grenache for this blend since 2000, expressing just how formidable, yet uncomplicated wines in this Rhone style can be.
