Tokara Chardonnay and Shiraz clinch Veritas Double Gold

Tokara Chardonnay and Shiraz staked their claim with 2 Double Gold medals at the 2023 Veritas Awards, South Africa’s most prestigious wine competition.

Tokara’s Double Gold duo, the Reserve Collection Stellenbosch Chardonnay 2022 and the Shiraz 2021 took top honours with the Tokara XO Potstill Brandy awarded Gold.

Described by UK Master of Wine Tim Atkin as having a ‘zingy, refreshing acidity and a savoury undertone’, the Tokara Reserve Collection Chardonnay 2022 enters the palate with bold, ripe yellow citrus flavours leading to a creamy finish.

“There is a continuous saline focus and feeling of freshness throughout that suggests this wine will age beautifully for at least a decade,” says winemaker Stuart Botha.

The Shiraz 2021 from Tokara’s premium range stands proud in this year’s line-up of Double Gold medallists. The palate is a melange of wild berries, baking spice and lightly toasted oak with alluring freshness.

“Shiraz always has the silkiest of tannins and this wine is no exception,” adds Stuart.

This year’s Veritas accolades reiterate the remarkable consistency across Tokara’s range of wines and is testament to the vision of owners GT and Anne-Marie Ferreira to produce world class wines without compromise.
